It has been a busy first half of the year for the Intradco team, with movements all around the world from rhinos and lions to heifers and Thoroughbreds.
With summer well on its way, we welcome the new season with another successful international equine part-charter. On the weekend of 20th May 2017 we transported 12 European polo ponies from a base in the UK and the typically British weather to the warmer, sunnier climes of Lagos, Nigeria via Liège, Belgium.
The ponies, accompanied by professional flying grooms arranged by Intradco, arrived at Liège Airport (LGG) on the Sunday 21st May where they were greeted by the in-flight team.
Once the animals and aircraft were checked and ready for the flight, the ponies were loaded onto the Boeing 747-400F with the whole operation taking just hours to complete, the flight departed on time for Nigeria and landed in sunny Lagos a little over six hours later.
Many international equestrian charters pass through Liège which has over the years become a ‘hub’ for both the import and export of horses. This is owing to a number of factors including geographical location – being well placed on the continent to service both the UK and wider European shippers.
There are also limited main deck routes for horses travelling to the African continent, particularly Western Africa, routing through means we are able provide efficient and cost-effective airfreight solutions.
The 2017 equine schedule continues to keep the Intradco team busy throughout the summer months and into the latter half of the year. Alongside arranging full charters the team are also extremely busy utilising scheduled service carriers to provide cost-effective equine shipping solutions to our clients.
